Grüße Alle! I am the new Executive Director of Winterfest, Dee Molnar. I am excited to step into this new role. I have participated in Winterfest since way back in 2007 as a teacher, judge, event coordinator, site host, and now ED. I hope to collaborate with many new German colleagues to grow this contest once again and help provide a meaningful yet fun event for students of German in the north Texas region to show off their German skills and cultural talents.
Please note that I am new to this website format and am trying to get items updated as quickly as possible. Please reach out to me via email if there is something you need but can’t find on the website. Campus maps should be uploaded by Wednesday, January 10, 2024. We are at a new location this year in Mansfield, TX at Ben Barber Innovation Academy. The school and Mansfield ISD are excited for this chance to show off their programs to the German teaching community and I’m looking forward to their hospitality.
There is a plan in the works to have food available for purchase on contest day. There is a nice Commons areas in the center of the school where you are welcome to claim a table as your Treffpunkt.
Judges are needed!!! Thanks to COVID we have had a shortage of participants and judges the last few years. PLEASE, please, please reach out to your community and help us get judges. Remember that we need German speakers but also non-German speaking judges with knowledge of art, cooking, and music. Please have your judges register here ttps://bit.ly/
Finally, we will have a work day on MLK day, 15 January at Ben Barber for all that are available to help. This is a chance for us to make sure we have all documents and copies made, folders prepped, and misc. tasks completed as much as possible before contest day. This is going to be a great chance for teachers to also check out the campus and get an idea of the layout before the contest. Please RSVP to me at winterfest@texasstategermancontest.org so I can plan for numbers. Tentative start time is 10am. An email will be sent with the final time once it has been set.
